1971 – Design Space supports Khulood Bintthani by showcasing her pattern cutting techniques she newly adopted in her fashion practice in The Nest, Bahrain. The Nest is an annual event by Al Riwaq Art Space in Bahrain, which takes place from November to December. This year The Nest will start running from Thursday 24 November to Saturday 17 December, 2016.

About Bintthani:

Born and raised in Dubai, Khulood Thani studied fashion between ESMOD Paris, London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins College. She works from experimental studio set in Dubai’s industrial area of Al Quoz, where she runs her own fashion label “BINT THANI” in Ready-to-Wear, soft accessories, and artistic fashion projects.

Recently she has been nominated for the Regional Woolmark Prize 16 (Middle-East, India and Pakistan for Womenswear). Khulood has been the first Emirati to represents the UAE in the (NEXT IN LINE)in the International Fashion Showcase this year in Somerset House in London, which coincided the London Fashion Week;the project was commissioned by the British Council-UAE and endorsed by Dubai Design and Fashion Council.

Some of her other projects are; Dubai’s first 3D printed dress (URBAN CORP) in collaboration with INTER | ACT, presented the launch of Dubai Design District, (Meet D3) in 2015. (BETWEEN THE DUNES), where the innovation of laser cutting met the usage of the camel leather, the project was presented in Contemporary Venice during the Venice Biennale and Wasl, Dubai’s Guest City Programme” during Beijing Design Week 15 in China. Aside from that, working with Ethan Allen for Architectural Digest ME (House-a-Porter Project), and curating DE.FASH.STRUCTION, in 1971 Design Space in Sharjah. Khulood is also a Founding Member of the collective design initiative Design Ras Al Khor happening during the Dubai Design Week.
